Originally intended for Tupac Shakur, Baby Boy follows the coming of age of a young Black man growing up in South Central Los Angeles as he confronts the realities of manhood, responsibility, and survival in a world marked by violence, poverty, and fractured relationships.

Directed by John Singleton and starring Tyrese Gibson in his breakout role, the film explores Jody’s struggle to break free from a cycle of immaturity, while balancing the demands of fatherhood, strained family ties, and the pressures of street life. With standout performances by Taraji P.
